Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about buying, licensing, your account, running the O!kurra robot on MetaTrader 5, sets, the course and support. Questions about the tools themselves are covered in more depth in the manual — the relevant chapter is linked under each answer.

Purchase & licensing

What is an O!kurra license and how does it work?

A license unlocks the O!kurra robot (Expert Advisor) on MetaTrader 5 — and only the robot: the design panels (OkurraButton + OkurraGlobal) and the companion indicators are free and need no license. You generate the license key (format OKUR-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) in your panel on okurra.com and paste it into the EA's Inputs tab. The robot verifies it over a secure HTTPS connection (MetaTrader's WebRequest) to okurra.com — there are no DLL libraries to install. After the first successful check the EA stores a short-lived signed token locally and re-verifies cyclically in the background, so short internet outages do not stop trading. You bind the key to your MT5 account numbers in your panel.

Can I try O!kurra for free? Is there a demo or trial?

A large part of O!kurra IS free: the OkurraButton and OkurraGlobal design panels and all eight companion indicators cost nothing — after registering on okurra.com you can design strategies and watch the methodology on the chart without paying. Only the O!kurra EA (the robot that actually trades) requires a paid license, and we do not run a standard trial period for it. O!kurra is an educational toolset that helps you understand the market better — not a 'money-printing machine'. We don't sell robots that supposedly make millions, and we don't promise that a small deposit turns into a fortune in a month. If you want to get to know our approach, start with the free indicators, panels and sets and test them yourself — ideally in the MT5 Strategy Tester and on a demo account. In justified cases, after contacting [email protected], we consider a one-week evaluation of the EA itself on an individual basis.

How many MT5 accounts can I use the license on?

One license key covers up to 3 MT5 account numbers. A single user can generate up to 3 keys, so in total you can cover up to 9 trading accounts (demo or live). You assign and change the accounts yourself in your user panel.

Are demo and live accounts treated differently?

No — for licensing we make no distinction between demo and live accounts. What counts is the MT5 account number: each number occupies one of the slots on a key, whether it is a demo or a live account. Remember that O!kurra is an educational tool — we suggest using it mainly in the Strategy Tester and on demo accounts.

What happens if my subscription expires while the EA is running?

The EA winds down gently rather than cutting off abruptly. When a background verification detects an expired subscription, the EA stops opening new positions and removes pending orders, but positions already open are still fully managed — Stop Loss, Take Profit, Break Even and Trailing Stop keep carrying each trade to its planned close. If a basket is under an armed Break Even Auto defense, that defense finishes bringing the basket to zero. Once the last position closes, the EA sits idle on the chart until you renew on okurra.com, and at the next verification it returns to work.

Account & access

How do I create an account on okurra.com?

Click 'Sign up', enter your email and password, then confirm your address by clicking the link in the activation email. After activation you have access to your user panel, where you manage your licenses and MT5 accounts.

I didn't get the activation email, or the link expired — what do I do?

The activation link is valid for 24 hours. If the message didn't arrive, check your SPAM folder. Once logged in, you can resend the activation link from your panel. If that still doesn't help, write to [email protected].

How do I reset or change my password?

On the sign-in page use the 'Forgot your password?' option — we'll email you a link to set a new password. When logged in, you can change your password in your account settings.

How do I add or remove an MT5 account number linked to a license?

In your user panel, select a license and add an MT5 account number (optionally with a label). Within the limit of 3 accounts per key you can remove and swap accounts freely.

Running the EA

How do I connect the license in MetaTrader 5?

In MT5 go to Tools → Options → Expert Advisors and allow WebRequest for https://okurra.com, attach the EA to a chart, and enter your license key in the Inputs tab. You'll find the full step-by-step guide in the manual.

After updating the files the indicator or EA does not load — the journal shows error 560 or “has newer unsupported version, please update your client terminal”. What now?

The .ex5 files in the current release are compiled on a newer version of the MetaTrader 5 platform (build 6140). An older terminal will not load them — the files are not damaged and it is not a licence problem. The fix: update MetaTrader 5 to the latest version (Help → Check for updates; with updates enabled, restarting the terminal is usually enough), then start the platform again. If you cannot update the platform, stay on an earlier release of the tools. The minimum required build is always shown next to the download button in your panel.

The EA shows a license error — what should I check?

The most common causes are: WebRequest to okurra.com not allowed, a typo in the key, no internet connection, or the MT5 account number not linked to the license (or an inactive subscription). You'll find a detailed checklist in the manual (Troubleshooting).

The license works on one computer but not another (or the EA reports a clock/time error)

Online verification is NOT clock-sensitive — a wrong time zone or a drifting clock does not block the licence (the time gate was removed from the API). So when the EA works on one computer but fails on another — most often a VPS — check, in this order: whether https://okurra.com is on the WebRequest list on that machine, whether the MT5 account number is assigned to the key in your panel, and whether the machine has an internet connection. Keeping the clock correct is still worth it (tidy logs), but it is not what rejects a verification.

I pasted my key and it's rejected immediately — what's wrong with the format?

Enter the key exactly as shown in your panel: OKUR-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (the prefix OKUR, then four groups of four characters, separated by hyphens). Paste it rather than retyping, and make sure no space, line break or extra character sneaks in at the start or end — MetaTrader sometimes leaves a trailing space. If verification used to work and suddenly reports a bad key, re-paste the key from your panel. You can copy the exact key any time at okurra.com → panel → Licenses.

Can I run O!kurra on a VPS or a demo account?

Yes to both. Any MetaTrader 5 account works — demo or live, any broker. For unattended 24/7 operation we recommend a VPS, since it gives a stable broker connection and no interruptions from restarts or power loss. It's best to do your first observations on a demo account.

After a platform restart the EA does not see its trades. Did it lose the positions?

The positions are on the account — the robot is not managing them because they are missing from its ownership registry (own-only mode). This happens when a position was born while the robot was away: a pending order filled with the platform off, or the positions were opened on the built-in VPS (the robot's files do not migrate). Since EA 1.26 the robot detects and alerts this out of the box; switch Global_OwnOnly_Reconcile to Adopt and it reclaims them with an ownership proof. Note: until an orphan is back under care, with Virtual SL enabled it has no stop at all.

My pending orders disappeared after a restart. Is that a malfunction?

No — deliberate housekeeping. The pending watch-list lives in the robot's memory, so after a restart leftover broker pendings are cancelled before a stale setup can fire unsupervised. Since 1.26 the robot notifies you. You can also restrict the sweep to the robot's own recorded orders (Global_OwnReg_TrackPendingOrders + Global_StalePendings_OwnListOnly).

Why is the Magic Number column empty in my report?

A deal without an MN comes from outside the robot — manually opened/closed positions carry MN = 0, and the platform does not allow assigning an MN after the open. No EA can write a number onto a manual position. If robot-opened positions show an empty MN — check whether Global_MagicBase is 0 (since 1.26 the EA warns about it).

Read more in the manual →
Can I keep the EA on my computer and on a VPS at the same time?

One Magic Number base should have one active robot at a time. The built-in MetaTrader VPS enforces this itself; with an external VPS running a terminal copy, that discipline is on you. After every move expect orphan alerts — the Adopt mode reclaims them.

Does Close All stop the strategy?

No. Close All flattens the account, but the button stays enabled — as soon as the oscillator produces its normal signal, the robot opens a position again (in our tests within seconds of the click). The silence window after Close All only blocks re-entry, not the normal signal path. To actually stop trading you have to disable the button, or switch the EA off with the ON/OFF switch on the panel. Close All means "close what I have", not "stop playing".

How is the EA master switch different from disabling AutoTrading?

The ON/OFF switch on the panel stops THIS ONE instance of the robot. Disabling AutoTrading in MetaTrader stops every expert on the whole platform — so if you run several O!kurra instances or other robots, AutoTrading is too blunt a tool. The switch state survives a settings reload, a recompile and a terminal restart, and clicking it always asks for confirmation.

With the EA switched off, does the BEa shield still close the basket?

Yes. Switching the EA off means "wind down", not "freeze mid-step". Nothing new starts — no signals, no pending orders, no Price Movement sensors, no re-entry, and no restoring buttons at the daily reset. But whatever is already open is wound down: virtual SL/TP, break even, trailing, broker-side stops, the account safeguards, and the BEa shield, which still arms and drives the basket to a close. Note one exception: the "Arm shield now" exit variant, with opening the first add-on on arming enabled, will open a hedging position — the confirmation dialog says so before you click.

What is the difference between Movement and Price Movement?

They measure two different things. Movement is the travel of the OKUR oscillator, in oscillator units — it is what creates a button's entry signal (Movement Correction and Movement Continuation). Price Movement is the travel of price, in chart points or in ATR multiples — it does not create entries at all, it switches whole buttons on and off. The shorthand that sorts them out: Movement asks how far the indicator went, Price Movement asks how far price went. You will see both side by side in the button panel.

Sets & configuration

Where do I download the ready-made sets (.set)?

You download the .set configuration files from your user panel — they are available to holders of an active license.

I can't see any sets to download — why?

Sets are available only with an active license. Make sure you're logged in and your license is active. If in doubt, write to [email protected].

What is the Set Creator and does it cost anything?

The Creator is an interview: you answer questions about the instrument, the direction and the protection you want, and it writes the matching .set configuration file for you — so you do not have to set dozens of parameters by hand. It costs nothing on top of the robot. To download the finished file you need an account with an active licence key (you generate the key yourself in your panel); the interview itself you can look through beforehand, from the “Creator” entry in the menu.

How is the PRO Creator different from the free one?

The free Creator builds a NEW file from your answers to the interview — it never sees a file of yours. The PRO Creator works the other way round: you upload your OWN .set, talk about it in your own words (“why does it close so early”, “I want a tighter shield on the second basket”) and get it rebuilt key by key, with an explanation of what changed. It can also lift an older set to a newer EA release. In short: the free one WRITES a file, PRO REBUILDS the file you already have.

How do I get the PRO Creator, and what does it cost?

Access itself is not a separate purchase — it comes with the robot subscription and is switched on automatically for as long as the subscription is active. What you do pay for is usage: one question costs from 1 grain upwards, depending on how large the task is, and it is taken from your Granary. So you need grains in the Granary before starting a conversation.

Why does every file from the Creator use a 0.01 lot?

Because we set it that way on purpose, for every file, regardless of the instrument, your balance and your answers — and we say so in the result. O!kurra is an educational toolset: a file you have just generated should be safe to watch on a demo account and in the Strategy Tester. Choosing a position size for a particular account is a conversation about your situation, not a number written into a file by someone who does not know it. In the “size from balance” mode the same rule reads as 0.01 lot per 10,000 of account currency. You can change the value yourself in the file — that is your decision, made knowingly.

Learning & course

Are the course and lessons free?

Yes — the educational course (lessons) is publicly available and you can read it without a license. The .set files attached to the lessons are available to holders of an active license.

What's the difference between the manual and the lessons?

The manual is the complete documentation of every O!kurra feature — you reach for it when you want to look up a specific setting. The lessons are a guided, layered course that shows step by step how to build and understand a configuration. Part of the manual is public; the full content is available after logging in.

Support

How do I use the AI assistant?

The O!kurra assistant answers product questions based on our manual. Type your question in your own words — the assistant will help and point you to the right place in the documentation.

How does the assistant on the site differ from the one in the panel?

The assistant on the main site is public and deliberately limited to public content (such as the philosophy and general architecture). The full assistant, which draws on the entire documentation, is available after logging in, in your user panel.

Is my data safe, and what does the EA send over the internet?

The EA's network communication serves a single purpose: verifying your license key with okurra.com over HTTPS. It sends no trading data, financial data or personal trade history — verification is limited to checking that the key is valid, the account is linked and the subscription is active. Requests are cryptographically signed, and the token the EA receives is signed too. There are no DLLs and no third-party components involved.

I can't switch the language (EN/PL), or the button seems blocked

The language depends only on the address: the English site is at okurra.com and the Polish one at okurra.com/pl/ — so you can always switch by adding or removing /pl/ in the address bar. In the top bar the EN/PL button opens a small menu; if the page is showing the cookie banner, accept or close it first, and if nothing happens try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5), a different browser, or turning off privacy/ad-block extensions for this site. On narrow phone screens the switch lives inside the menu (☰) button. Your choice isn't stored in a cookie, so clearing cookies won't lose it.

How do I contact support?

If the assistant doesn't solve your issue, write to [email protected]. We handle every request individually.
